Child Of God, Not A Slave To The Master

The Word

Hey everyone, I wanted to share what we talked about at church this morning. We were looking in the Bible at
Galatians 3:23-29  and Galatians 4:1-7.

No longer prisoners by the law

In verses 23-25, it talks about being prisoners by the law. Since Jesus Christ has come, we no longer have to be prisoners by law. If you accept Jesus Christ into your heart, and have faith that Jesus is the Son of God and was sent here to die for our sins, then you are no longer a prisoner by the law.

Now a child of god

In verses 26-29, it talks about when you are saved, you become a child of God. You are one in Christ Jesus. In Galatians 4:1-7, it talks about how God sent Jesus to save us, so we may be adopted into his family, an heir to the kingdom of God. For everyone who is already saved, I know it is still a struggle to keep God number one, and not be "a slave to the master." We all sometimes are a slave to something/someone in our life.

The struggle of still being a slave to sin

I am going to be honest with y’all, I still struggle today with being a slave to things, like coveting other’s blessings.

I think this is a struggle for everyone my age.

We all get caught up scrolling through social media, seeing other people’s “perfect lives” and start to covet their “perfect lives.” We start to compare our lives with other people’s lives and then become unhappy with our own life. We’ve got to just cherish the blessings in our own lives and not covet the blessings in other people’s lives. Try to not to let money, possessions, school, family, friends, or anything else come before God. There is some good news if you are putting something or someone before God today, you can confess it to God and ask him for forgiveness. You do not have to be a slave to that sin anymore.

Also, do not put your happiness in a person or thing, it/they will never truly satisfy you, but let your happiness reside in God. For those who are single and unhappy, I know this is especially hard for y’all, but just try and give your undivided devotion to the Lord. I encourage you to go read 1 Corinthians 7:17 this week and just live your life for God and see what he does with it. I also recommend listening to the song "No Longer Slaves." It is an awesome song and it talks about no longer being a slave to sin, but a child of God.

By the way, I wanted to give y’all an update on my mom. She got the results from her CT scan this past week. The great news is that the cancer has not spread. We still don’t know what stage yet, but its not stage 4. The prayers are working and I thank everyone that has been praying for her.

Happy Sunday and I hope everyone has a blessed rest of the week.

  3. I REALLY LOVE THIS!!! I got saved a little over a year ago, matter of fact the day I got saved I told you! I struggle figuring everything out on my own. My parents don't believe, but I do. This made me realise that I am off of the course He has for me! I will pray for your mom, and thank you so much.

  4. I am so happy my blog is already helping others like you, Kylee. I remember that day, I was so happy that you got saved!! I got saved and baptized when I was nine years old and I still have so many things to learn. I know it is so easy to get busy and forget, but it is so important to have a daily relationship with Christ, so we can continue to spiritually grow. I am praying for you and your parents too! Thank you for the prayers for my mom. If you ever need someone to talk to, I am here for you. Galatians 6:2.
