Times And Seasons Of Our Lives

Hey y'all. I hope everyone has had an awesome summer. It has flown by. I am dreading starting college in two weeks. I do not want summer to end and all the fun times at the pool and grabbing coffee with my friends.

College is going to be new and scary. I'm not going to know anyone and I don't know what to expect. It really has been stressing me out, getting ready for college and all. My schedule is kinda crazy. I am doing fifteen credit hours first semester, including biology and chemistry lab classes. I have to take certain classes that go towards my major, get thirty credit hours by the end of the school year, and keep at 2.5 GPA to bridge over to Clemson my sophomore year. Thats a lot of pressure.

I did realize something today.

God doesn't want me to dread and fear going to Tri-County Tech this year. He wants me to try my best to succeed and get good grades, and more importantly to use school as a mission field. Its good to spread the gospel to others around you whenever you have the opportunity.

We have been in a series at my church called, "Under The Sun," how fitting for the summertime. lol.

Today, we talked about the times and seasons of our lives. We read in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.

ecclesiastes-3-1-2.jpg

These verses basically describe human lives. It describes the good and the bad times people have. There are times and seasons in our lives. No matter what season we are going through, we must remember God has authority over the times in our lives. Psalm 139:16 is a good verse that represents God's authority over the times in our lives. We must also cooperate with what season God has put us in.

This is something I've been struggling with lately. I start doubting and asking God so many questions like, why do I feel like I don't have a real best friend, why do I feel close to people one minute and then distant the other, and why are you allowing this person to bully me and ruin my friendships? Even through all these things, like scripture says, I must cooperate with what season God has put me in. I need to trust God even when I don't understand why I am going through what I'm going through.

I can't be sure, but I feel like God is putting me through this season right now because, he wants me to seek him first and stop depending on other things besides him.

So in this life under the sun, what is the gain for us?

Next, we read in Ecclesiastes 3:9-14.

1. As believers, our lives are connected to eternity.

  • Non believers don't have anything after this life under the sun. They don't have eternity.
  • Life isn't meaningless when you realize you are apart of God's eternal plan.
  • We must stop looking for worldly things to fill our lives, but instead we need to fill our lives with Godly things. This hit me hard, because I've been thinking I need some sort of outlet like chorus to get me through college, because that's what I had to get me through high school. Now I realize that God needs to be my outlet, regardless if I get into a chorus class/club or not. He wants me to depend on him and make him my number one priority in my life.

2. We can trust the timeless God with the times of our lives.
  • We live within the boundaries of time, but God does not.
  • We can't fathom what God has done.
  • We need to call out to God, when we feel life is meaningless. Say "God, I need your presence and help." Psalm 31 is good chapter to read and pray to God.
  • We also must stop trying to be in control of everything. God is in control of our lives. Everything is in his hands, not our own. So seek him when you are anxious, worried, or stressed.
