Letting God Have Control

Hey y'all! How is everyone doing? I know this is a scary time right now with the uncertainty of the future. I don't know about y'all but this self isolation because of Coronavirus has really been hard for me. I miss my friends, family, and my church. Zoom calls and FaceTime are the closest things I can get to in-person gatherings, but I am thankful for the technology that we have. It also weighs on my heart when I watch the news and continue to see more and more people die from Coronavirus.

Even in the midst of this pandemic, there is hope to be found in Jesus. Life has changed as we know it. My church has shut its doors, but thankfully they post their services online for people to access. Today my pastor started a new series called "Fearless Church" and I wanted to share this message with y'all today.

God's word is not chained

Life has always been busy and constantly moving, but now everything has stopped because of this virus. I believe everything happens for a reason and maybe God allowed this virus to happen because he wants us to pause and turn back to him. We literally are all sitting at home doing nothing, why not read God's word and spread the gospel? It is important to share the hope of Jesus we have as Christians during these difficult times.

During the service at my church today, we first read verses 8 and 9 in 2 Timothy 2.

During this self isolation, we are like Paul who was sitting in prison by himself when he wrote this text. In the theses verses it says "God's word is not chained." Even through these difficult times, we can share God's word and come out of this as stronger believers.

Next we read 1 Peter 3:14-161 Peter 4:12, and 1 Peter 4:16.

This is a scary time for everyone and the news we hear everyday about Coronavirus can be overwhelming and worrisome. Don't let what is happening around you determine what is happening within you. God can redeem this if we will put it in His hand.

Now I know this is not an easy thing to do. I have struggled with letting God be in control of my life before this pandemic even happened. I am a control freak. I like to plan things and be in control of my life, but that doesn't always work very well.

As humans, we have a sinful nature and we can't do God's will if we are calling the shots and in total control of our lives. We need God everyday and must seek him for strength, guidance, and wisdom in our daily lives. Even when it is hard, we have to trust God and give this virus to him. We can not just give God partial control of our lives either. We have to give it all to God.

It is more important now than ever to step deeper into your relationship with God. Don't waste the time you have during this crisis. This is the time to work on your relationship with Jesus.

In 2 Timothy 4, verses 16 through 18 it says God will stand by our side and give us strength.

If you let him, God will give you strength and he will use you during this time to share this hope of Jesus with others.

Like it says in 1 Peter 3:15, we need to set apart Christ as Lord.

We need to quit only seeking Jesus during the hard times and start making him Lord of our life. Let him be in total control of your life. God can do way more with your surrender than you can do with your control.

We have a lot of distractions and temptations in our lives. We sit around watching Tik Toks all day or scrolling through social media when we could be spending time with God. So in this time of uncertainty and self isolation, work on your relationship with God. I promise you it will be worth it.

If any of y'all that are reading this right now and are struggling with something, please reach out to someone. If you need someone to talk to or pray for you, I am here for you. I have a place on my blog where you can submit prayer requests and I will definitely pray for you.

I also just want to thank all the health care workers out there working countless hours to fight this Coronavirus pandemic. I also want to thank grocery store workers, because without them grocery stores would not be open and people could not get the things they need. I pray that God protects them from the virus and gives them strength and guidance during this time.

Good luck with everyone who has final exams coming up in the next couple weeks. Love you guys. Till next time.
