Sinful Me, Holy God

Hey everyone, it's been a bit of a rough week for me.

I have been stressed about school and worried about my close friends that have been going through some stuff lately.

To make things worse, I haven’t been getting a lot of sleep. I am exhausted, which is probably why I’ve been really emotional and sensitive this week.

A while back, my pastor did a series called, “The Holiness Of God.”

In my pastor's sermon, he covered the following scripture: Isaiah 6:1-8, Isaiah 64:6, and Psalm 99.

Isaiah 6:1-8 talks about how Isaiah the prophet got to see God with his own eyes and be in his presence. In verses 1-4, it shows how much God is above us, different from us, and how his holiness is absolutely pure and perfect.

Isaiah 64:6 describes all of us as “unclean” and “our righteous acts as being like filthy rags.” It also says we are like a leaf blown off a tree, “like the wind our sins sweep us away.” For Holy is the Lord and for how unholy are we.

Isaiah 6:5-8, really hit home to me. In verses 5-6, my pastor talked about how the closer you get to God, the closer you get to see who you really are. This past week made me realize how broken and a mess I am. I so often turn to my old habits of depending on food, Netflix, or whatever to get me through stuff, but God doesn't want me to do that. I am starting to realize how much I must depend on God in my life. I strongly encourage you to read Psalm 40:1-3 . It talks about patiently trusting in the Lord and the fact that he will deliver you.

There is hope for us sinners, as shown in Isaiah 6:7-8. In these verses, God took Isaiah’s guilt away, and his sins were forgiven.

God can do that for us too.

If anyone feels like there is sin in their life, I pray that you ask God for his forgiveness and to take away the guilt you feel from it. After God forgave Isaiah, Isaiah was ready to go and serve the Lord. I think we owe it to God for us to do the same. Be bold; share the gospel with others everyday. I encourage y’all to read Psalm 99 also, since it shows God’s holiness.

I hope everyone has a blessed week.

  1. I think your blog is extraordinary. As a fellow Christian I get lost in your views of the way you see Gods scripture. I love how you imbed bible verses and images in the blog as well. To me this world needs more blogs like this and I think that it's very informal for anyone concerned with sin and feeling burdened. Great Job!
